Whedon Discusses Dr Horrible Sequel

Jed Whedon spoke to Entertainment Weekly recently about the status of the Dr Horible’s Sing-Along Blog sequel now that everyone involved in the project is now super busy. Neil Patrick Harris is busy with the final season of  How I Met Your Mother, Felicia Day is busy with geek entertainment community Geek & Sundry, Nathan Fillion is starting his sixth season of Castle and Joss Whedon is working hard on The Avengers sequel and Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen are show running Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Here’s what Jed Whedon had to say about the future of Dr Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog.

“We know we have spoken publicly about a sequel in the near distance and our passion to create it, and I promise we have not been insincere. Horrible is still one of our favorite creations by humans who were also us. We have many songs written and the plot outlined, but needless to say, we’ve been busy. Joss has had a hectic couple of years and is in the middle of the busiest year of his life, as is Zack and as are we. Also the actors have other things they’re acting in, I think. So the future is uncertain, our passion remains. DH2 will exist, in some format or another, at some point in the future. Unfortunately, the when is still unclear.”

Doctor Horrible Sequel on Hold

While fans have been crying out for a sequel to Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog since the original was launched the sad reality is we will not see one any time soon. The cast and producers of Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog have been so successful in recent years that they are all too busy with various projects to coordinate time to produce a sequel.

The good news is you can continue to enjoy Niel Patrick Harris in How I Met Your Mother, Felicia Day is busy with geek entertainment community Geek & Sundry, Nathan Fillion is starting his sixth season of Castle and after his huge success with The Avengers Joss has teamed up with fellow Doctor Horrible Executive Producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen to produce the new ABC television series Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. which premiers later this month on ABC.

So while a sequel was written, unfortunately, at least for now, there’s no sequel on the horizon.
