The TV Show Blog reports

Joss Whendon (Buffy & Serenity) is currently developing a musical web-series called “Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog” …

This is exciting in so many ways. First, Neil Patrick Harris in a musical! Nathan Fillion working with Joss again! Also, when someone as respected in Hollywood as Joss Whedon starts making content specifically for the web, it goes far in legitimizing the medium. Hopefully this is just the start of quality (but network unfriendly) shows coming to the internet.

New post on Felicia’s blog - pictures from the set

Felicia’s Flog has a new comment under ‘Yes, I am in Dr. Horrible’s Sing-A-Long Blog’ from an extra, Norma Jean (her real name!). Apparently the soup kitchen where Penny (played by Felicia) works is called ‘Caring Hands’ and Norma plays a helper there.

Joss Whedon can’t stop the music

It isn’t just basement dwellers, hyper productive CEOs, and information age hipsters who are creating online projects these days.  Famous people from traditional media are also trying their hand at creating something new and different……Did I mention it’s a musical?

This isn’t the first time Joss has delved into the waters of genre musicals.  The Buffy episode “Once More With Feeling” was an amazing mix of plot and song. More than that, the sudden outburst of singing is actual explained in the context of the show.

io9 on Doctor Horrible

Joss Whedon’s internet musical about a sad supervillain, Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog, has only just finished shooting. But it already has its own fansite, covering every scrap of information. So far, we’ve gleaned that Dr. Horrible (Neil Patrick Harris) has a “rebuttal song” with an eerie melody, and Rick Partlow plays someone named Mayor Hankins. [DoctorHorrible.net]
