Dr Horrible Launches Act II
The launch of Act II snuck up quickly and appeared online at midnight Eastern Time, a much more smooth transition than the first episode, available to international viewers immediately and no sign of crashing servers.
You can view Acts I & II online now

Just saw Act II….I can’t believe this is as good as it is!! Really. Amazing. Can’t wait for the singing commentary. Thanks!
July 17th, 2008 at 5:15 amAnother amazing episode. The last song was awesome. Great change of pace and fitting to the mood.
July 17th, 2008 at 5:30 amAbsolutely awesome, and a much smoother transition for those of us not in the US. Thank you! If possible, even better than Act I. *love*
July 17th, 2008 at 5:46 amA brilliant concoction of wit, charm, lyrical and musical prowess. Good and evil are wonderfully paired, performances slyly performed with grace and nuance. It’s all bound to transform and enslave the viewer. Chapeau a tous!!!!
July 17th, 2008 at 5:56 amwhy is it not on iTunes???
July 17th, 2008 at 5:57 amYep, Act II is fantastic. Though it’s making me think twice about the ‘Hammer’ tee-shirts because, well, they are now actually X-rated…:)
July 17th, 2008 at 6:00 amLoving it! Especially the Bad Horse songs. NPH and Fillion are just darling. Can’t wait for third act.
July 17th, 2008 at 6:06 amFantastic, witty, hilarious. Love to see the good evil guy and the evil good guy. Thank you for giving us internationals free access to it until we can get it through iTunes as well!
Keep flying!
July 17th, 2008 at 6:27 amIt’s gonna sound boring, but I’ll say it anyway: FANTASTIC!!!
Can’t wait to buy them in higher quality and blast them over the stereo.
July 17th, 2008 at 7:03 amWow! And double wow! I got in to work early to watch this, and it is worth it! NPH is amazing, but I have to say the revelation is Nathan Fillion. I never thought he could be so … oily. And I may have to go buy a t-shirt …
July 17th, 2008 at 7:46 amAwesome second part, but it ended too quickly, as did the first! Arg, Joss, why give us something so brilliant only for it to be so short! :p
Can you buy it on iTunes in the UK?
July 17th, 2008 at 7:57 am2nd act, again - what more can I say - this is absolutely great !
Thanx so much for running it smooth, so no problems for us international viewers !
I was NEVER a fan of musicals at all, but this is different. The songs are catchy but not cheesy and stick to your head.
Love it - love it - love it !
July 17th, 2008 at 8:29 amAct II was brilliant! NPH and Felicia Day sing a beautiful duet and Nathan Fillion sure makes every geek, nerd, and dork hate Captain Hammer. I sure hope the good evil Doctor can please The Thoroughbred of Sin in the next episode…
July 17th, 2008 at 8:44 amwhat can i say…
its great ,light, entertaining, and man am a singingalongwiththeblogalot
July 17th, 2008 at 8:50 amBrilliant. I really loved the duet, and when Nathan kept refering to NPH as “Doc” I flashed back to firefly and how Mal always called Simon doc….*sigh* I still really miss that show…back on topic, I love this with all my heart, can’t wait for the final part
July 17th, 2008 at 9:55 amAct II is fantastic. Cannot wait for the final Act (and the DVD!!)
July 17th, 2008 at 10:35 amAnd these are not the hammer……. The hammer is my Penis!!!!!
July 17th, 2008 at 11:11 amHA HA HA by far the funniest thing i have ever heard! Best line in the show so far! Bravo Joss Bravo!
“I ordered one frozen yogurt and they gave me two”. . . If only I had been that smooth in high school!
Capn brushing off his shoulder after the homeless guy touched him was great too!
July 17th, 2008 at 11:37 amDang! It’s on!
July 17th, 2008 at 12:18 pmheyy! just seen act 2 and love it!
July 17th, 2008 at 12:23 pmbut just wondering when the songs are available in the uk?
thx!
xxx
Loved Horrible’s “disguise” in the soup kitchen, as well as Hammer’s vacant expression indicating he really didn’t want to be there.
Can i haz Capn Hammer shirt now, pls?
July 17th, 2008 at 12:30 pmBrilliant! This series is perfect. This shows the networks that you can be quirky, original and successful! Now maybe they will let Joss do anything that he wants, as he certainly has proven that he can draw a crowd.
July 17th, 2008 at 12:56 pmAct two had some amazing songs and was also an awesome feet of internet greatness, Just wondering when it will be up for download at Itunes.
July 17th, 2008 at 12:59 pmI’m loving this, though “These are not the hammer” sufficed for me. I thought that being explicit cheapened the joke. Did Horrible’s last number remind anybody else of Spike’s solo in OMWF? Horrible in the soup kitchen missing the bowls is classic, and Hammer on that paddleboat alone cracks me up every time.
July 17th, 2008 at 1:02 pmPart II was great! Can’t wait for part III. I will certainly buy the DVD when it comes out!
July 17th, 2008 at 1:20 pmI’m with #24. I didn’t think the “humor” of the explicit reference was worth losing the family-friendliness of the series up to that point.
I screened Act I for my entire family and they loved it, which puts me in a somewhat awkward position for Act II.
Darn shame, too. It’s so high-quality in every OTHER respect…
July 17th, 2008 at 1:28 pmI haven’t seen anything this good since Firefly and Serenity (well, with the exception of Lost, but this is in a completely different vein). My heart just breaks for Dr. Horrible (aka Billy) when he looks away from Penny kissing Captain Hammer! Joss, you are a genius! I can’t wait for the stage musical!
July 17th, 2008 at 1:42 pmNPH has been giving me Spike flashbacks since the first seen of Act 1. I thought the continuation of “these are not the Hammer…” was hilarious. I didn’t feel it cheapen the joke at all. Too each it’s own.
July 17th, 2008 at 1:42 pmI’m loving this. Keep up the great work, and thanks for thinking of us international viewers.
July 17th, 2008 at 2:06 pmI loved the “Hammer” joke, I’m with you 28. The complete lack of subtlety (and intelligence) was just PERFECT I thought.
Any word on when it will be available on iTunes? Cause I loved it even more than Act 1 - way darker, and that first song was AMAZING.
July 17th, 2008 at 2:28 pmI can see the point of the explicit penis comment, but it goes a long way to portray the crass and “jerk” level of Captain Hammer’s Character, Very well delivered by Nathan as well. It was fantastic I think the songs for act II were really epic which was awesome.
July 17th, 2008 at 2:28 pmIs everyone getting it? I still keep getting the “this video is not available at this site” message and I’ve tried everything the FAQ has suggested, anyone else had this problem and know how to solve it?
I even ended buying the first part on Itunes but the seconds still isn’t up.
July 17th, 2008 at 2:38 pm“You look ‘horribly’ familiar…”
*rimshot*
I also enjoyed the jump cut from confident, happy Dr. Horrible w/freeze ray to depressed, beaten-up Dr. Horrible sans freeze ray explaining why he shouldn’t be so upfront in his blog. The change in lighting was very effective as well. You can tell some time has passed between segments.
July 17th, 2008 at 2:48 pmJust think of the Hammer joke like this. Dr. Horrible is a scientist (albeit a possibly Horrible one). He’s smart enough to get the innuendo, but Captain Hammer wanted to rub salt in the wound by making it painfully clear what was going to happen. Cause a Jerk’s gotta do what a Jerk’s gotta do!
July 17th, 2008 at 2:50 pmdamn… i’m obsessed.
July 17th, 2008 at 3:02 pmjust finished watching Dr. horrible and i really hate Captain hammer. he is such a douche. kill him Dr. Horrible and dont make it quick.
July 17th, 2008 at 3:22 pmI’m obsessed too. I’m well on my way to memorizing all the songs…
re: the Hammer Joke, I liked the fact that Captain Hammer explained it. Like he wasn’t sure if the joke was clear, so he had to confirm it. Kinda Joey-esque from friends. ‘Cept meaner.
And I LOVED the Brand New Day song.
July 17th, 2008 at 3:23 pm“Go ahead and laugh, yeah I’m a funny guy!”
For the win!
this is grate. are you going to make a soundtrack of the show?
July 17th, 2008 at 3:35 pmI liked Captain Hammer explaining it too. It’s not a curse word, it’s the proper name for that part of the human anatomy, what’s the problem?
Anyway, Loved Act II, it was hilarious. I hope somehow I can see Act III, I won’t have Internet access at the weekend and can’t use iTunes.
July 17th, 2008 at 3:48 pmI am in the same boat as #39. I hope somehow I’ll be able to catch Act III next week. Act II was awesome and I have to mention Captain Hammer cracked me up when he was trying to leaning away from the birds on the bench in the park!
July 17th, 2008 at 3:59 pmI have trouble viewing hulu video with Firefox, even after disabling my firewall. I got it with IE, but using Microsoft makes me fell like a corporate tool. Like I’m “Micro” and “Soft.” And I’m talking about feeling like a small, flaccid penis.
Anyway, loved Act II. I’m disappointed that it’s not up on iTunes yet, because I own the Season Pass!
July 17th, 2008 at 4:05 pmI liked Act I, but it didn’t blow me away. Act II, however, is amazing. <3
July 17th, 2008 at 4:15 pmWow! The first act was marvelous but then came Act II and the show got even better. Thanks for putting together such a fun and entertaining program.
July 17th, 2008 at 4:15 pm(Note to self: buy more Dr. Horrible merchandise)
More! More! More! Brilliant as always. Joss have you ever thought of writing something for Broadway??
July 17th, 2008 at 4:16 pmi love this!!! joss is a genuis and neil patrick harris rocks!! i just still can’t get over that they have the guy from firefly in it.i hope that its put up on zune soon
July 17th, 2008 at 4:19 pmExcellent! I watched the episode 3 times in a row, it was that good.
July 17th, 2008 at 4:28 pmHammer. I love him! No!! I hate him! No!! I love him…AND I hate him!!!!
July 17th, 2008 at 5:02 pm“These aren’t The Hammer….”
Oh.My.God.
I screamed! No!! I laughed! No!! I screamed…AND I laughed.
Please…get the DVDs out. And make it snappy.
(Please?)
Now off I go to get a Hammer t-shirt, because I love him. No…wait…
BTW…this is the best geek music since JoCo!
July 17th, 2008 at 5:07 pmFor those of you not in the Geek Elite, JoCo is Jonathan Coulton. The guy that brought us such nerd anthem gems as “Code Monkey” and “Skullcrusher Mountain”.
Never heard of him? Shame on you. Look him up.
FAN-TAS-TIC!!!
July 17th, 2008 at 5:38 pmEverything has already been said.
On http://www.italiansubs.net we are publishing Italian subtitles for those Italian who wanna understand it better.
VEry proud of being in that team cuz i love this production.
Waintin’ for the 3rd!!!
Oh, Joss! Please, just take my money and keep making more! I simply cannot WAIT for Act III and the DVD!
More! MORE!!!
July 17th, 2008 at 5:40 pmWhen’s it going up on Itunes for those of us who already purchased the season pass? You’d think those who paid for it would get it first.
July 17th, 2008 at 5:43 pmApplause! I luve it. Can’t decide which part is better. I think the whole Dr. Horrible is awesome! I love the way he says “Horrible” by the way! Can’t wait to see the last part even though it is sad that it’ll be the last part.
July 17th, 2008 at 5:53 pmI bought the season pass on Itunes, but now that it is up it isn’t downloading. I double checked and Itunes said I only purchased the individual episode. But I’m pretty sure I clicked season pass. Did anyone else have this problem?
July 17th, 2008 at 6:56 pmI didn’t think I’d feel this way but I want Captain Hammer to suffer and Dr. Horrible to get the girl!
July 17th, 2008 at 9:37 pmLoved Act II and agree with everyone else that the songs are great.
Classic Whedonistic perfection.
July 17th, 2008 at 9:42 pmNow I’m desperate for Firefly the musical.
I’m going to miss Act 3 as well. Great timing for a holiday!
July 17th, 2008 at 10:00 pmYa of course we want the doc to end up with the girl! But I don’t want Captain Hammer to die JSUt yet - I want him to get to sing again! and who else is psyched for the David Fury and Marti Noxon cameos?:)
July 17th, 2008 at 10:42 pmAWESOME!
July 17th, 2008 at 11:07 pmLoved it! Joss at his best.
July 18th, 2008 at 1:29 amHere are my few thoughts on the new act
July 18th, 2008 at 2:44 amOh my friggen gods, this is friggen great stuff. I see parts of my dark side (Dr. Horrible) and my sweet little light side (Penny). The energy is fantastic and so is the music. MORE MORE MORE
July 18th, 2008 at 4:38 am24 & 28: I don’t really see it. The only one who can give me Spike-flashbacks is James.. I didn’t really see anything Spikelike in Dr horrible.. even if you can hear his pain in the songs, just like in omwf. Not every angry blond singing guy is spikelike :))
July 18th, 2008 at 7:11 amAwesome! Showed it to all my friends, they all loved it.
July 18th, 2008 at 11:14 amJoss’ work is as addictive as ever. I almost forgot how naturally funny Nathan Fillion is.
Re: the “these are not the hammer” punchline - I knew it was coming, but the mild, childlike delivery sold it completely.
July 18th, 2008 at 1:09 pm
