In the washington post article NPH refers to the song everyone has been calling “On The Rise” as “My Eyes”… http://www.washingtonpost.com/...

I do the weird stuff.

This is my best guess...

My Freeze Ray {confirmed by Joss}

Bad Horse

Lend a Hand

A Man's Gotta Do

On the Rise {confirmed by Felicia}

Bad Horse (Reprise)

Penny's Song {no actual lyric really seems to stand out as a title, other than \"Story of a Girl\", which is a bit too close to \"The Perfect Story\", or perhaps \"Keep Your Head Up\"...}

Brand New Day

The Perfect Story

Everyone's a Hero (In Their Own Way)

Slipping

Everything You Ever

Wiki quote has a fair amount of transcripted dialogue for all characters from all three Acts. The also list titles and songs (including interspersed dialogue where it occurs, which I wouldn\'t necessarily insert in song lyrics myself ... but).

There\'s no attribution as to source and its not clear who (or perhaps whom) posted it, but they do link back both here (to the fan site itself, not the forum specifically) and to the main site where the free viewing Acts appeared.

Whoa, weird that they also used \"Penny's Song\"...

This is all blown out of the water when Mr. Harris labeled Miss Day's “On The Rise” as “My Eyes”.

I don't think even they know what to call them yet. (Probably went with the traditional “first line” the old musicals and operas used as titles while they were filming/recording this.)

The gamut determines the acceptible range of conditions. It's Genius' Awesome Sauce in an 8oz. glass bottle with a cork stopper.

NPH again mentions a song called \"My Eyes\" in the monsters and critics interview, linked on the first page, but doesn't say what song it is.

He said \"brand new day\" too, so I'm guessing that's a confirmation of the name?

There's only one song that uses “My Eyes” and Miss Day called a song “On the Rise” which happens to be used in the same \"only one song\" where “My Eyes” is used. So we have conflicting info from two people who were major stars in the production.

All bets are off until the official list is released… even “Brand New Day” (which absolutely makes the most sense for that song's title, but given the possible name of “My Eyes”, it could easily be “You're Gonna Die” instead).

Maybe the stars were just given the lyrics without the titles?

I remember NPH said (I can't remember if this is from one of the Comic-con videos or some other interview... I've been Dr. Horrible crazy lately on YouTube) that when he was trying to learn the songs, he didn't have a lyrics sheet or anything, just the songs on his iPod. So it's a pretty good bet he, Nathan, and Felicia all just made up their own personal titles for themselves when they were trying to learn the songs.

Yeah, I agree with that statement.  It's \"why\" without a doubt.  \"Way\" wouldn't start with an \"ah\" vowel.  🙂

I think the one most are calling \"The Perfect Story\", going back toa  previous suggestion, would be \"So They Say.\"  This makes sense because the song's theme is the public perception of our \"hero.\" It's realy about gossip and its power to sway public opinion.

Besides, \"so they say\" is used in both choruses...\"the perfect story,\" only once, I think.

OK - here's a challenge for someone - take Capt Hammer's song and then cut out the bit between where he gets frozen and unfrozen and I guarantee you it will flow seemlessly meaning that the final word of the song is W.A.Y
Why makes no senese at all….. way makes perfect sense

Everyone's a hero in their own way.

Everyone's a hero in their [gets frozen]…..... [unfrozen] ………..  waaaaaaaaaay

It just doesn't make any sense for it to be anything else - he's finishing his song.

I totally agree with you, Admin.  The pitch used also makes complete sense.  The pitch he sings during \"way\" is a logical conclusion to the song.

This should put an end to this debate.

Already did this, and of course it's “way” and the end of his song.

Yeah. Dr. Horrible's Theme and the ELE theme sound similar (for a good reason I'm sure) but they're distinctly different. The ELE theme plays when you see Dr. Horrible dressing in his new duds and they show the ELE as well as during the opening credits of each act. The song Dr. Horrible sings, which is also played during the end credits, is different than the tune at the opening credits. So I went ahead and made the distinction.

Given how Mr. Whedon (the Joss one) loves irony, I went ahead and put the songs as all parts of one song. I wouldn't put it past him to do that.

* denotes my strong preference of each (except 5… hard to tell when there's hardly any words)

The gamut determines the acceptible range of conditions. It's Genius' Awesome Sauce in an 8oz. glass bottle with a cork stopper.

The subtitles for I+II+III together say “Why?”. Seems the debate ain't over.

IMHO, it's part of the conversation that's following (”Why, a death ray! Looks like Dr. Horrible is moving up.”) and not a complete continuation of the previous song despite the pitch matching. Let's not forget that, between his last word of the previous song and getting thawed, he punched Dr. H, jumped off the stage, picked up the broken ray gun and stepped on Dr. H before he sang the word.

Dude... Dr. Horrible on Twitter (Jed) has already stated that the subtitles have not been completely fixed yet. This is one of the things that hasn't been fixed. A subtitle made up by a Hulu employee that has never seen the script does not a debate make. Trust me, (1) I'm a music major, and (2) I have ears... that clip speaks for itself. It's not about the \"pitch matching.\" It's a one-billion-jazillion percent fact that the song was recorded all as one with the \"waaaaaay\" on the end and then cut into two parts in the editing. Don't just listen to the vocal, listen to the instruments.

Plus, uhh, that's the whole joke... Captain Hammer gets unfroze and finishes his song...

OK, think about it like this. If Captain Hammer were really saying \"Why, a death ray!\" then why would he sing the single word \"Why\"? We've never seen him do that before, sing a single word just for the hell of it.

That plus the fact that it really is in fact in the exact same key as his song seems to be enough for me to discount the \"Why?\" hypothesis. The reason it sounds a tiny bit like \"Why\" is because Nathan Fillion is hitting a high note out of the blue, which is difficult to do with a good tone unless you open up the vowel (in speech, \"ay\" is a diphthong that closes at the end). This is something I teach my musical theatre singers. It just so happens that an open \"ay\" vowel tends to sound like \"eye\" without extensive training.
