Well I never heard of Dr. Horrible until I listened to the Gamers with Jobs Podcast, where they spoke very highly of this and had a interview with Felicia Day about this and The Guild. Too bad I missed out on the free viewing but can't wait for it to turn up on the Australian Itunes store.

Via the yahoo group for Phil Foglio\'s Girl Genius, would you believe? GG and the Dr. share a certain steampunkishness.

I\'m trying to recall where I first heard about Dr Horrible. I\'m a Whedon fan, as are many of my friends and family, and yet I can\'t pinpoint where and when I first heard about the Blog when it was \'in creation\'. Perhaps I learned of this via osmosis? *raises eyebrows*

I\'m sort of in the middle. I was a huge fan of \"Buffy\" and \"Angel,\" and was very involved in discussions about them on TWOP. I didn\'t watch \"Firefly,\" though, because from the description, it didn\'t seem like something I\'d like. I did see the film \"Serenity\" on cable, and it didn\'t really grab me. I\'ve been meaning to check out the \"Buffy\" comic books, but haven\'t gotten around to it.

So I guess I\'d call myself a Joss Whedon fan, but a \"casual\" fan, not a really rabid, passionate fan. I loved \"Buffy\" and \"Angel\", and I\'ll definitely check out his projects if they sound interesting (I AM planning to check out \"Dollhouse\"). But I\'m not someone who constantly checks fan sites about him and adores everything he ever does.

Anyway, I have an online friend that I got to know through a different fandom, but she IS a huge Whedon fan who follows everything. So she tipped me off to \"Dr. Horrible\" when it was first announced. I checked out the trailer and thought it looked great, so I made a point of watching each episode as it went live.

I loved it, although I\'m one of the ones who would have preferred a happier ending (just as I would have preferred it if Tara hadn\'t died). I do love Joss\' work: wonderful characters, clever dialogue, and in this case, brilliant songs. I\'m not so fond of his need to kill off beloved characters, but oh well, you take the good with the bad.

So I guess I\'m in a \"medium\" category, somewhere in between the extremes of \"Never heard of Joss Whedon\" and \"Worship the ground Joss Whedon walks on and knows instantly about all his future projects.\"

Personally, I saw it on iTunes while looking for new stuff. It sounded interesting, so I looked it up online and watched it the last day of free viewing. Lucky, right?

And I am definitely a Whedon fan now. I was too young to appreciate Buffy and the other shows when they first came around but I guess that\'s what Hulu\'s for (that and watching Dr. Horrible for the tenth time 😉

I read it in an announcement at sidereel.com. Then I went to whedonesque.com to look it up and saw the announcement from Joss.

I was watching the G4 coverage of E3 and I remember seeing a very short blurbe about it. The next day my boyfriend sent me a link to the website and insisted I watch it with him. As soon as I saw Nathan Fillion (My BF also got me hooked on Firefly) I gave it a serious chance. I\'ve been obsessing over it ever since. I watch it at least twice a day.

I probably read about it on Whedonesque but not really sure since I browse a lot of sites. Been a fan since Buffy and of course Firefly/Serenity. One of these days I will go back and watch Angel.

I first heard of Dr. Horrible from a young coworker who suggested I Google it. Before I could, she told me it was being offered for sale on Itunes. Checked it out and found it showing for free on hulu (yay). Watched all episodes yesterday. It rocks! Have been a fan of Firefly on DVD. Have appreciated a number of episode of Buffy (my sister is a big fan). Joss Whedon is an excellent writer and I'm continually amazed at the plots lines and fresh ideas he comes up with.

I found it browsing on hulu.  I'm not someone who particularly follows the work of Joss Wedon.  I just love musicals and it sounded interesting from the description.  Really well done.

I'm curious to know how people found out about Dr Horrible - and how many were already fans of Joss Whedon and how many are new to his work.

Did you find out because you know everything Joss does the minute it's announce in some obscure place? Did you find out through one of the Joss Whedon focused sites like Whedonesque? Did you hear about it because you follow the work of one of the actors? Did you stumble across it through some random Google search or through a social bookmarking site like digg or stubmble or /. ? Or, did you hear about it through some more mainstream media like the LA times or NPR?

…. I'd love to know

None of the above.

I first found out at Jane Espenson's blog. (She's a writer, with Firefly in her resume).

July 16th, her posting read thusly, “Wow.  So, have you watched it yet? I'm talking about Joss Whedon's “Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog”. It's hilarious and you really should go watch at once. …”

(For the rest of the post, go to http://www.janeespenson.com)

So, it was through a colleague of Joss's.

EDITED TO ADD:

It took an insistent link from a friend of mine until I finally checked it out, then I raced to iTunes and bought it right away.

Watch it daily.

I StumbledUpon it.  I then spread the word to a few friends and we're all hooked now.  We can't wait to buy it and support the people involved!

I heard about this last spring on one of my endless Firefly/Serenity webquests, but then forgot until it came up on Ain't it Cool News, where I immediately clicked over, watched Act 1 & Act 2, bought the pass on itunes, and then got up at 5:00 a.m. on Saturday to watch Act 3 before itunes downloaded it for me.  I e-mailed the link to my friends, then I was depressed for a while thinking that a 45 minute musical was the highlight of my life for the summer... but what a glorious musical!  So I got over it, watched all of the Guild episodes on You Tube, and am now happily awaiting the soundtrack & DVD.  And maybe a sequel, or prequel?

i read a post on tuaw.com about the occurence of the iPhone as a car remote, with a link to drhorrible.com. it was a lazy day, so i followed it - and infested a small part of europe with dr.horrible's evilness.

still patiently waiting for it to show up on international iTunes... 🙁

My boyfriend clicked on it on hulu - have no idea where he heard about it.  Saw it, loved it, immediately went to Itunes to support it!

I loved Firefly but I'm not a hardcore fan or anything...
