Obtaining Stage Permission: Is there another way?

My girlfriend and I have been working for a couple of months on a stage production of Dr Horrible, and have contacted Rachel Rhee (spelling) both through her official Mutant Enemy address and through the contact page here, with no response. It's getting to the point where the committee of our company needs to know that there are no rights fees to be paid or the show won't go on!

Is there anyone else we can contact or another way to obtain permission? Time is of the essence!

Rachel is no longer project manager but I am now sending the requests to someone else who is dealing with them as she is able.

Yaya, did you hear anything?

I've been trying for over a month to get anyone to write me back about this same thing, to no avail. And the contact page here is apparently not working, since last week I wrote in it "Can you please just e-mail me to let me know this went through?" and still got no response.

What are we supposed to do? Also, where are you located and planning to do your production! Best of luck with it!

I've had the same problem bandie528 talked about; I can't seem to get through to anyone, be it here on the forum, through the contact page, or via Twitter. My production would (theoretically) begin in a little over a month, so I'd really like to hear back from someone even if it's just to say "Give us more time to look over our messages." I'm also left wondering what to do.

Zorak,

Who have you tried to contact via twitter? I wish you the best of luck--this is getting very frustrating, especially since we know that it's been done before. ::shrug::

I don't want to sound ignorant, but doesn't Joss Whedon own Dr. Horrible? Obviously it would be harder to contact him, though. And couldn't you ask for help from Nathan Fillion, as he is a frequent Twitterer? I would love to see Dr. Horrible on stage!

KKat,

There have been a handful of stage productions of Dr. Horrible put on in the past. Because of the demand, the Whedons assigned Rachel Rhee the job of Project Manager and she was in charge of setting up rights and giving permission to performances.

However, now she is no longer the project manager. To contact her we were supposed to fill out the contact page on this site, and they would forward the message to her. But the contact page here is broken, as I have multiple times typed in "e-mail me to let me know if this worked" and haven't gotten any response.

As for twitter, my own course of action in trying to get permission to put on my show was to tweet at Maurissa. She gave me an e-mail address to write to. I did that, and heard nothing. After a week, I tweeted at her again, and she gave me a different e-mail address to write to. Heard nothing. Found out about this page, filled out the contact page, and heard nothing, and now I've been posting in this forum, and am still hearing nothing regarding my query.

It's getting frustrating, especially since I've been trying to get in contact with someone regarding this since late October/early November.

What to do now?

I know what both of you guys are talking about.  We're supposed to start in March, and I sent the email awhile back and still haven't recieved anything.  People keep asking me when we're going to get permission, and I just say I'm waiting.  I mean, I realize that life in that world is hectic, as it would be in any world, but it's also part of the job to take care of requests like this.  Hrugh.

Whatever, I suppose.  Update us if anybody recieves permission!

I got an e-mail shortly after the new year, and after filling out a few forms I have a completed licensing agreement. Dreams do come true! *smaltz*

Has anyone heard anything? This is really important! I need to get those rights! (Though I'm sure you guys do, too.)

I posted this in another part of these forums, but figured I would help you guys out a bit. If this is redundant, forgive me. I just understand the frustration people may have experienced last year and want to help them.

First of all, they have certainly fast-tracked the licensing process for this show.

When I first inquired about it last year it took a good 2 months or so of emails and phone calls to even find the right person, and then it was another month of tail-chasing before a reply was had.

Recently I re-inquired about the rights and had the license in hand within a week.

THANK YOU TIMESCIENCEBLOOD!

For those of you interested but unsure of who to contact:

Doctor Horrible <info@drhorrible.com>

They will need all the standard info. For those of you who might not know what that is, here:

1. Production dates

2. Ticket prices

3. Audience size

4. If the production is professional or amateur, and whether the cast and crew are being paid

Hopefully that speeds up the process for anyone interested in staging the show who are unsure of what to do next.

For myself, I am directing the Las Vegas premiere of this kickass show, and I couldn't be more excited!
