OK, so let me be the first to put my money down…. These are not insider tips.  I'm just a viewer making guesses:

1) First of all, I would guess the story could sustain 3 “seasons” of 3 acts each, meaning two more productions on the scale of what was done already.
If the project goes black, it would be great to see more speaking roles.   Maybe the Purple Pimp and the Pink Pummeler can join Moist as Dr. Horrible's entourage?

2) Penny is not dead.  She was obviously stopped by the freeze-ray in her final moments of life, just after being carried off screen (unconscious but alive) on the stretcher. No doubt she's squirreled away in Dr. Horrible's laboratory, still stopped.  Horrible allowed the world to think she was dead in order to secure his place in the league.  He must keep her secret from Bad Horse, who would kill her.

3) Bad Horse will be assasinated by a member of the league at the start of series 2.  Most likely Fury Leika, as she was sitting closest to him.  As a result, the league will split into factions.  This battle would take most of series 2.  Horrible will begin to recover his sense of compassion, putting him at odds with more evil members.

4) Series 3 would concern the recovery of Penny.  She will not take kindly to Horrible and his life as a super-villain, possible rejecting him at first, then attempting to save him and win him over to her view of a compassionate world.

Anyone else?

I think Horrible was experiencing way too much grief and disbelief over Penny's death to have formed any sort of game plan. However, this is a comic-book world, and someone else on this forum has already pointed out that time-manipulation is not out of the question (\"Hourglass\" seeing the future and of course the Freeze Ray stopping time). So sometime in the future, Dr Horrible might be part of the ELE and their dastardly doings, but also working on a side project involving time travel or cloning or something: some way to get Penny back to him. Something will of course go horribly wrong with this plan, because Joss never lets you buy back a death without some sort of price, and either Penny will be not-quite-herself and/or her return will interfere with Dr Horrible's actions with the ELE and he will once again have to make a choice.

Cliffhanger.

This, like Act I, will not have a resolution, but rather continue off the Brand New Day (music as Dr. H is walking through is victory party) and set up the conflict that will ensue in the following Act V. Of course, this is just a wild guess (or optimism that there will be even more... or pessimism if you look at it as \"I want the story to end better in the next Act\").

That's all I can say.

The gamut determines the acceptible range of conditions. It's Genius' Awesome Sauce in an 8oz. glass bottle with a cork stopper.

1. The Purple Pink and the Pink Pummeler will form a tag team, mixed-martial arts duo and find fame and fortune as the Double Ps.

2. Moist will become head of the Henchmen\'s Union and lead them on strike against the Evil League of Evil over better health benefits and new media revenue.

3. In league with Doctor Horrible, Professor Normal poisons Bad Horse\'s drinking water and BH ends up with Equine Metabolic Syndrome and has to be put down. A power struggle ensues and Fury Leika and Fake Thomas Jefferson go into hiding while Doctor Horrible consolidates his control over the ELE.

4. The Bad Horse Chorus \"disappears\" but secretly regroups as the Love Bunch, who become intergalactic superstars with their alien interpretations of Barry White\'s greatest hits.

I think it is important that Penny is dead and there are no compromises on that. It is her death that gives power to the whole story and must remain. That being said, I think that there does need to be further resolution regarding Penny for Dr. Horrible including her being in the sequel though it must be handled well.

Personally, I am opposed to time travel (\"Why didn't they fix that other thing while they were there?\"), evil twin (unless introduced or heavily alluded to in the beginning of the story), and saved by the Freeze Ray (compromises Dr. Horrible's transformation).

I agree that the three act form must be maintained as well as Dr. Horrible actually blogging still. Also, more Moist.

Ok, I really really enjoyed the whole blogging thing (NPH displays a fantastic ability to hold your attention when all he is doing is talking to the camera for 4 minutes!), but I feel like (in its original incarnation at least) it wouldn't fit in with Dr. Horrible's character anymore. I know that he was obviously still blogging something at the very end, when we see Billy saying the final two words into the camera, but it almost felt like a goodbye. Putting your thoughts and feelings out there in cyberspace takes a certain personality type, and it also requires that you are trying to make some sort of connection with your audience. This is, of course, just my opinion, but it seems like Billy/Horrible has become so emotionally detached in order to deal with Penny's death, I can't see him bringing himself to do something as open and emotion-sharing as blogging anymore. Obviously, I hope I'm wrong, because I agree that it would be fantastic to continue this form into any extension of the story. I'm sure the Whedon clan will find a way to make it work.

The next part is about Dr. Horrible bringing Penny back to life as a zombie.  I'm thinking like a Mrs. Frankenstein, but she's not really the same as she was alive.  No personality, no motivation, minimal responses to conversation and she rots.

Billy's Sing-Along Blog, perhaps?  He seems to be in more of a position to do it than Dr. Horrible would be right now.

I would like to see Felicia Day return, but not as Penny-as-she-was… I think she'd make a great super hero herself, either as a sort of resurrected/changed Penny, or as someone who looks just like her (therefore causing all sorts of confusion for both Dr. Horrible and Cpt. Hammer).

I also desperately want to meet Dr. Horrible's parents - any super villian who is concerned about innocent bystanders has to have had a very interesting upbringing.

I also think it would be interesting to see Moist actually use his powers to do something... such as if Dr. Horrible were in jail, Moist could perhaps cause enough corrosion of the cell to break him out. Moist may not have 'super' powers but he could still cause a lot of damage - just look at the buildings left from floods!

He's called moist though. If he was called Torrent or Flood, maybe. It would take years for him to do any real damage to a building. Still, I do want to see some more of moist. He could be useful in other aspects of evil-doing.

I, too, am intrigued by Billy's upbringing. I also wonder if he has any siblings. I actually desperately hope he had siblings, maybe a 'norm' sibling who is a High-Power Lawyer (it would explain how he avoids getting thrown in jail). I'd also think it be interesting if his parents (or perhaps another sibling) were Heroes. He'd be the black sheep of the family. A family of Superheroes with a Supervillain member. It could create an interesting dynamic in that his family gets outcasted from whatever league, guild, federation, or paraliment oversees Heroes (basically whatever the opposite of the ELE would be).

Barring that, I'd settle for more conflict between the Dr. Horrible persona and the feelings (and desires) of Billy. Perhaps he becomes conflicted because Bad Horse asks him to do something completely heinous or Professor Normal and Evil Thomas Jefferson ask him to join them in overthrowing Bad Horse (it's kind of obvious that Billy sort of, in a twisted way, idolizes Bad Horse).

I might as well throw my two cents in on the 'sequel'. I'd prefer to think of it that way instead of merely an Act IV.

To start with, I feel that, with most characters, it's important that they constantly move forward. They grow, they learn and they develop. Going backwards can be harmful to any character development. Them looping around is fine, but not backing up.

Also, one of the most interesting things about this series was the Billy/Dr. Horrible dynamics, the normal and supernormal. The series started with both sides being even and stuck in neutral. Billy was getting no where with the girl of his dreams and Dr. Horrible was a failure as a villain. However, as Billy's life got more depressing, his villain career took off. He makes off with the wonderflonium; Penny and Captain Hammer meet. Billy sees their relationship 'deepen'; Dr. Horrible decides to forsake his non-lethal ways for a second chance with the ELE. Penny dies and ending Billy's dreams of them together; Dr/ Horrible makes it to Super-Villain status.

Another juxtaposition was how the blog was set up. In the beginning, Dr. Horrible always sat in front of the 'web cam' while the cinematic parts of the series were about Billy. The series ended though with Billy being in front of the 'camera'. Here he talked about no longer being able to feel a thing emotional. So my idea is for less of a backtrack of older themes and more of a reawakening for Dr. Horrible. Let's flip things on their heads.

The new 'series' will start with Billy doing the blogging. He has a new neighbor and he can't stand her and vice versa. They get on each other's nerves either because of misunderstandings or deliberate acts. Step 1 is complete as Billy begins to feel again. Sure, it's annoyance and brief flashes of anger, but it's no longer a dull ache inside.

Next, we introduce a new heroine in town. The good equivalent of the ELE (Good Guild of Goodness???) has sent her there to help out Captain Hammer with the situation in the city. Captain Hammer can't stand this new heroine because she seems immune to his obvious charms and abundant good-looks. What we, the audience, know, but none of the characters have figured out, is that this new heroine and the annoying neighbor are one and the same. This is also a wonderful way to unfold more of this universe they've created to us.

Meanwhile, this heroine and Dr. Horrible discover that there are sparks between the two of them and are greatly confused/conflicted by this. On one hand, Dr. Horrible realizes that he is feeling something besides negative emotions, but on the other hand, there is that whole hero/villain thing coming between them. Also, as a subversion of the old Riddler plans, Dr. Horrible starts leaving clues about his future crimes for the heroine to find. Not to prove himself more clever than her, but so that she WILL figure out the plan and they can meet again.

Of course, we can't forget Penny. She was the girl of his dreams and played a large part in his actions. However, as we all know, she's dead. How do we get around that? Well, Penny has always had this almost angelic presence about her. I'm not saying that we should literally make her an angel, but let's make her his conscience. Through flashbacks and was-it-really-a-dream-or-was-it-really-her moments, she gives him advice and urges in the right direction. Kinda like a Adrian Monk/Trudy thing.

So we've set the stage for let's of development. How will this budding relationship between a hero and a villain play out? What will Billy/Dr. Horrible do once they figure out that the annoying neighbor and the hero he is attracted to are one and the same?  How will Captain Hammer react when he finds out that the one girl that he couldn't get Dr. Horrible can? What possible reprecussions could there be from the ELE and Triple-G? Will Dr. Horrible ever forgive himself for what happened to Penny and move on with his life?

So… in conclusion, I apologize for this over long post and hope you enjoyed my predictions.

I really like the idea of Penny returning as a voice in Billy's head, or as a conscience or something.

An idea I thought of is, if Hammer's out of the picture, maybe Johnny Snow might make an appearance in Act 4?

My predictions:

1. Hourglass (mentioned by Moist, when talking about the kid in Iowa that grows up to be president) turns out to be an psychic girl with a nice figure (Eliza Dushku?), who gives Billy a free taste of What Might Have Been sand. (Very expensive, but the first hit is free). We all want to know what might have been with him and Penny.

2. Fury Leika (mentioned in the credits as part of the ELE) turns out to be like Drusilla, with the seductress / vaguely disturbing attributes dialed up to 11. For example, she might thoughtfully give Dr. Horrible a gift: Penny's hair, retrieved from the morgue, because she watched his blog and saw that he likes her hair. Of course, Billy is freaked out by this, but can't part with it. Moist suggests it's the first piece of a Pennybot, which Billy rejects out of hand. But then the ELE gets a windfall of robot parts...

3. Moist misses his buddy, who's hardly ever around anymore. So he tries to become more evilly moist. In connection with Dr. Horrible's promise that this \"this town will burn\", he may extinguish one of Dr. Horrible's plans. Maybe this is not enough. He has already suggested killing children and smothering old ladies; he may try to use his knowledge about Billy to blackmail Dr. Horrible. Maybe Bad Horse doesn't know that Penny was just collateral damage, and the trigger wasn't even pulled by Dr. Horrible, and in fact both of Dr. Horrible's machines broke that day. Blackmail is a real good possibility here. Not sure Moist would be the one to try it.

4. My surest prediction: none of the above 😉

Wow, I was just glancing through this site and this comment got my wheels spinning.  If you read the comic about Captain Hammer, he has a very large vendetta against 'smart people'.  He tells kids to report other kids who are too smart and considers the intellectuals of the world to be dangerous. We never learn why he has this attitude though.

Dr. Horrible, otoh, is very adament that CH is his nemesis from the start. Clearly they do have a history with each other with CH stopping many of DH's plots over time.  What if this isn't merely a normal rivalry between hero & villian.  Maybe CH and DH are actually brothers?

There's really no evidence to point to this but I think that'd be a great twist to throw in there!

There is more evidence against them being brothers than there is for it.. unless it's a seperated at birth kind of thing.. which would be interesting but it would have to be done in a Austin Powers/Dr. Evil sort-of way.. and make fun of the cliche-ness of it...

I second this but it might be good if she is  only seen while he is in his Dr Horrible persona.  She takes up the cause of the henchmen

Hmm. . .

Perhaps Dr. Horrible will only see Penny in fleetig glimpses.  Red hair flashing around a corner.  A reflection in a mirror during a heist.  She haunts him.  As a ghost or as a delusion in his crumbling mind. . .

I wrote a rough draft, outline of a DH2 sequel. Which I posted on my blog a while back. A buddy of mine has been asking me to post it somewhere public. So here it is.

ACT 1
SCENE 1            (Dr. Horrible's lair, ELE meeting room, and on the streets)
Dr. Horrible blogs about his recent activity.
*cue song* (It’s a Horrible Life sung by Dr. Horrible)
Dr. Horrible sings a song catching us up on all of his bad deeds.
During song, shots of Dr. Horrible singing his acts as a status report to the ELE.
References: recent encounters where Captain Hammer ran away and being in therapy.
Dr. Horrible references Penny and alludes to wanting her/bringing her back.
Dr. Horrible gives instructions to Moist and a new minion to steal something.
The minion wears goggles and a red shirt that says \"Horrible Minion.\"

SCENE 2            (On the scene of the crime)
Enter Moist and the new minion discussing Dr. Horrible as they carry the \"stuff.\"
The Hammer Cycle is in the background.
*cue song* (A Heroes Life sung by Captain Hammer)
Captain Hammer is shown saving the day *in song* with his new sidekick.
The sidekick, Mr. Roboto, does most of the saving.
They disable and capture Horrible Minion #1.
Moist \"slips\" away from Captain Hammer with the stuff.
Captain Hammer states that he needs a shower.
Captain Hammer and sidekick discuss a plan to defeat Dr. Horrible
Captain Hammer stands with his foot on the minion for the entire conversation.
They plan to build a robot version of Penny who is programmed to kill Dr. Horrible.

SCENE 3            (Dr. Horrible's lair and Captain Hammer's command center)
Dr. Horrible is shown bringing Penny back from the grave (literally).
Moist questions whether resurrecting Penny is a good idea. No, it’s a Horrible idea.
*cue song* (Memories of Penny sung by Dr. Horrible and Captain Hammer)
Captain Hammer and Mr. Roboto build robot Penny.
Montage during songs of both Pennys being created.

ACT 2
    SCENE 1            (Dr. Horrible's lair)
Moist guest blogs while Dr. Horrible is off on a date with Frankenstein Penny.
*cue song* (Moisture Rap sung by Moist)
In the background, there is a new Horrible minion dressed in the same outfit.
Being nosy, Moist opens an “Email from Bad Horse”
*cue song* (Email from Bad Horse sung by Bad Horse Chorus)
The email accidentally reveals where their next heist will be.
Frankenstein Penny requires a supply of Restorum to keep her preserved.
While attempting to close the email, Moist short circuits the computer. *static*

    SCENE 2            (A park)
Dr. Horrible and Frankenstein Penny are having a picnic in a park (w/ frozen yogurt).
Dr. Horrible is realizing that his new Penny is not quite right.
*cue song* (Is This What I Want? sung by Dr Horrible)
Penny uses a spork on a bird?
They are confronted by Johnny Snow who freezes Dr. Horrible.
*song transition to* (This is What I Want sung by Johnny Snow)
Johnny Snow is then beaten up by Frankenstein Penny.
Frankenstein Penny is concerned about her own behavior. She thinks she is bad.
*song transition to* (Is This What I Want (reprise) sung by Frankenstein Penny)
Dr. Horrible and Penny hurry off. The doc is a little scared and sequesters her.

SCENE 3a            (Captain Hammer's Command Center)
At the command center, Hammer admires Robot Penny and jokes about using his hammer.
Robot Penny responds, \"Can you hammer a six inch spike through a board with your hammer?\"
        Hammer responds, \"Huh?\"
Penny replies, \"Its all about standards.\"
        Roboto says, \"Just a little personality.\" Hammer frowns. Roboto adds, \"For realism\"

SCENE 3b            (A new heist location)
Captain Hammer arrives at the heist location with robot Penny and scouts it out.
Dr. Horrible arrives and breaks in to get the goods.
Frankenstein Penny has followed him but loses him when he enters the building.
She wanders off looking for Dr. Horrible.
Captain Hammer instructs Robot Penny to stroll outside when Dr. Horrible comes out.
Dr. Horrible exits and is surprised and upset to see Robot Penny outside.
He mistakes Robot Penny for Frankenstein Penny and leads her back to his lair.
Captain Hammer, pleased with his work is surprised by Frankenstein Penny in an alley.
Frankenstein Penny sings, “Would you lend a caring hand…”
They engage in a similar alley conversation to her first with Dr. Horrible.
Captain Hammer mistakes her for the Robot Penny assuming that she is malfunctioning.
He takes her back to the command center.
-Need a song in here somewhere.

ACT 3
SCENE 1            (Dr. Horrible's Lair and ELE Meeting Room)
Dr. Horrible is blogging about his concerns regarding his latest project..
He does not mention that his newest project is Frankenstein Penny.
        He receives a \"Text from Bad Horse.\"
*cue song* (Text from Bad Horse sung by Bad Horse Chorus)
Dr. Horrible provides a status report of the ELE situation.
He has a glass of milk in an evil mug.
*cue song* (Evil Agenda sung by Dr. Horrible)
He uses a green magic marker.
List of evil things that have been done.
List of evil things in progress.
List of evil things to do.
Song is interrupted by Dr. Horrible being paged for a telephone call.
The call is from Moist who explains that Penny (Robot) has gotten away again.
When Dr. Horrible returns to the table he finds that his chair has been moved.
Dr. Horrible leaves to locate Frankenstein Penny.

SCENE 1b            (Laundromat, park, and homeless shelter)
Transition to Robot Penny who is looking for Dr. Horrible.
Some people may recognize her at the shelter.
Shelter has been renamed after Penny, Penny's Caring Hands Shelter.
        Robot Penny stops and looks.
She looks down at ther hands after she reads the new name.
Scene shot matches the shot of Frankenstein Penny after she killed the bird.

    SCENE 2            (Command Center)
Meanwhile Captain Hammer and Mr. Roboto are discussing the malfunction.
They speak frankly in front of Penny (Frankenstein) about killing Dr. Horrible.
        Hammer discusses Penny rudely.
Penny (Frankenstein) sees that Captain Hammer is not that good a guy after all.
She unknowingly reaches out to choke Hammer and Roboto steps and calling it a glitch.
She gets the gist and decides not to speak up about their confusion over her.
Captain Hammer sings about his therapy, parallels to Dr. Horrible coping.
*cue song* (Therapy Sessions sung by Captain Hammer)
Song humorously discusses the things he is learning about himself (or not).
Song describes how he thinks removing Dr. Horrible will make his pain go away.
Ends with Hammer singing about his \"final session.\"
        They forget to \"repair\" Penny.
They leave (with Penny) to seek out Dr. Horrible for Penny to kill.

SCENE 3            (Penny's Caring Hands Shelter)
Dr. Horrible while searching for Penny finds Robot Penny outside the shelter.
He starts to question her about why she ran off.
She places her \"caring hands\" around his neck and starts to choke him.
Moist grabs Penny pull her off and she sparks.
They all fall to the ground with Moist landing on Robot Penny.
Robot Penny continues to short out and Moist gets jolts of electricity.
After some yelping he gets off and helps Dr. Horrible up.
They both look confused and upset.
Dr. Horrbile declares she was a robot and we know who must have created her.
Moist answers \"Mr. Roboto\" and Dr. Horrible agrees stating Hammer is behind it.
Also, they still have to find Frankenstein Penny.

    SCENE 4            (The Laundromat)
Dr. Horrible and Moist arrive at the Laundromat.
They look for Penny but she is not there.
They start to leave but in come Hammer, Roboto and Penny.
Hammer makes a speech about how he will finally be rid of his pain.
He orders Penny to kill Dr. Horrible.
Dr. Horrible reveals that they have already destroyed the other Penny.
Frankenstein Penny seems disturbed to hear she was killed again.
Captain Hammer asks who this Penny is then.
Mr. Roboto surmises that it is the real Penny brought back from the grave.
Captain Hammer shudders at the thought he had to practice with his hammer.
Captain Hammer is upset and says he will have to do it himself.
Moist and Roboto stare each other down and prepare for a sidekick throwdown.
*cue song* (Washing My Hands of You sung by group in parts)
Bystanders start to get out of the way.
Captain Hammer picks up the nearest appliance and hurls it at Dr. Horrible.
Dr. Horrible ducks out of the way in a not athletic manner.
Dr. Horrible pulls out a remote which he uses to shoot laundry at Hammer from the dryers.
Hammer screams it burns before he removes it and stomps toward Horrible.
        Penny looks on in shock.
Mr. Roboto launches a pair of robot minions at Moist who calmly shorts them out.
Moist is next to the detergent dispenser and starts hurling soap grenades.
A couple hit Hammer who is closing on Horrible causing his next attack to miss.
Dr. Horrible continues to work his remote to little avail.
Hammer picks up another appliance and prepares to crush Horrible.
Resignedly, Dr. Horrible looks over at Penny and says, I'm sorry Penny. I'm sorry about hurting you.\"
Hammer gives a curtains speech to Horrible and begins to drop the wash machine on him.
Penny steps in and begins to choke Hammer.
Moist sees Dr. Horrible in trouble and launches some grenades at Hammer.
Hammer loses control of the washing machine which falls on Penny.
Hammer looks distraught and says that she did that to herself not him.
Hammer prepares to go after Dr. Horrible again when he is hit in the eyes by Moist.
Frustrated, Hammer gathers up Robot and leaves.
Dr. Horrible goes over to check on Penny whose body is crushed under the machine.
She is still conscious and entreats Billy to not bring her back again.
She says that something was perverted in her return and she did not like it.
She tells him that he needs to move on and go on without her.
She finishes by telling him that she wishes she had chosen him.
Dr. Horrible removes the goggles from his head and kisses her good bye.
        Penny dies again.

Epilogue
The status quo of Dr. Horrible and Captain Hammer return with both able to function again.
Sadly Penny is really dead but that is life.
The story can continue in a \"comic book\" way.

So it's about Penny instead of Dr. H. (Pennys' Half-alive Diaries.) Then to make it fit with the Dr. Horrible sad-irony theme, she'd die thinking they both hated her (in which she'd only be half-right).

The gamut determines the acceptible range of conditions. It's Genius' Awesome Sauce in an 8oz. glass bottle with a cork stopper.
