i prefer to order official merchandise.

but you know what, according to the notes folks have left on jinx own site, they've been out of the dr horrible fanshirts for 85 days. i wanted to order one for my best girlfriend for halloween. now i can't even get it for her birthday. and as to christmas...; if it's been so many months without restock at jinx, i can't plan on it.

frankly, jinx' selection is not very good, the styles of shirts are unflattering for women's figures, and they're out of stock on the stuff i want.

i WANT to support whedon and get an official shirt. but even if i found one i fancied they're out of stock!!!

it's sort of forcing us to go through other means, isn't it?

I'd be happy if Jinx would hurry up and make some more Dr. Horrible Face shirts available..Every color and size is sold out..And I agree with others in that the quote ones are okay, I'd still like for them to be more than they are..Am going to order a "I'm not your Nemesis" shirt sometime today while they're still available..

yes pls more merch! I want to get my hubby a C.H. t shirt, but the larges and XLs are all sold out. I want to support the real DR.H crew and not bootleggers. They need to put out more cool stuff for us fans to buy!! Dolls! more tees!! MUGS!
I am an artist and want to design a Dr.H vs C.H. tee, but I don't want to violate any copyright laws or upset the people I am trying to support. I wonder, is there a way to submit a design to the powers that be so they can use it if they like it?

When will this happen anyway. Oh and P.S. I also want a "we do the weird stuff" shirt.

Please add the line "The world is a mess and I just need to rule it" to something! I would buy a mug for every member of my family (we are strong willed!).

Great post, 11th! Great to see you over here. :)

And for folks that don't know, 11th is the resident martyr for the Firefly/Cafe Press snafu from a ways back. So if anyone is gonna know the situation or understand all of this, she's your girl. :)

11th, I like your suggestions, and I do hope that Mutant Enemy can figure out a licensing arrangement for those folks that want to make their own products. I personally would like to have my own OFFICIAL "The Status is NOT Quo" t-shirt.

This is an important topic. For anyone who is interested, a thread which fleshes out this topic even more is over on WHEDONesque. A very good read:

http://whedonesque.com/comments/17179

Joss & Co. have every right to protect their intellectual property... especially in the case of Dr. Horrible as they are working to develop a financially sound business model so they can make even more cool online productions. Bootleg merchandise, which duplicate the same type of official merchandise (like t-shirts), can siphon money away from the intellectual property owner. That makes it much harder to make a project like Dr. Horrible a viable, profitable venture.

Fans have a lot of enthusiasm, and many come up with great ideas and designs. Perhaps a way can be arranged for fans to participate in designing officially sanctioned merchandise in a shared profit arrangement with Mutant Enemy. This arrangement could end up being a part of this new business model being explored. However, such an arrangement needs to be done with the full approval and control of Mutant Enemy.

Also, if the officially licensed t-shirts lack the selection one would like to see, then by all means send J!nx some suggestions for designs.

Oh, on a side note, Cafe Press merchandise is very good. They're always working on new and improved ways to print t-shirts and the quality now is much better than in the past. (A good thing to keep in mind if an officially sanctioned "Dr. Horrible" Cafe Press portal ends up to be a doable fan participation arrangement.)

I'd have no problem with ordering from the official site - IF the women's shirts came in a size large enough for me.

Their '2XL' is 19" wide - that's only a 38. I demand justice for larger-boobed Dr Horrible fans!

I see that now Joss's lawyers have reached out to cafepress and all the merc is gone from there. Everything set to pending status. How do people feel about that. I for one am a little surprised.
