It can't end that way.

Anakin can be turned back to good and destroy the Emperor. You'll see.

Wait…Undecided

Um…

Yeah…

The redemption is the next logical step.

This reminds me of a story I wrote around 6 years ago about a guy who tried to (successfully) prolong his life only to want it to end after centuries, unable to end it, becoming jealous of mortality, unable to stay integrated with a society that held life in such disregard, turning against Humanity, making it his purpose to make them realize what life they had to lose… and end their life before they could forget.

Then, I saw a movie a couple years ago with the opposite antagonist… one who was dying unable to stop it, envious of those who had life to waste, willing to let them live if they learned or die if they didn't. My character didn't give them such options. They had proven themselves to be untrustworthy of living. There were no complicated games. It was simply taking them to the edge of life, where they had no choice but to think about what they were losing, and he let that be their last memory.

All I could think at the end was:

Joss Whedon, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!

Umm… wow! Wasn't expecting that! It's not like I was expecting a Spanish Inquisition either…

What can I say but – Amazing. And if Mr. Joss Whedon and friends/family do NOT continue this story, I shall find Bad Horse and feed him apples until his stomach is bloated!

Gods, I so agree. This is a horrible horrible place to end the movie. Could that be deliberate then? Ick. hope not.

Mr. Whedon, please don't end it here. I feel like I got slapped in the face after seeing act 3. The first 2 parts were so great, and then act 3 just squashed everything.

If it ends here, like this, I'm NOT gonna buy the dvd as I won't want to watch it ever again. :(

A friend of mine posted this in her face book, "(She) reminds folks what generally happens in Whedonesque shows…uh oh."

Too true, and very Joss!

I have to admit, that was a little heartwrenching. I mean, I was prepared for a twisted ending, but not THAT twisted. Especially the part at the end where he's suddenly Billy and not Dr. Horrible for the blog.

Nonetheless, I don't think there could have been a better ending. I think a continuation would only cheapen the real–message?–of the feature. Doctor Horrible is going to be a proper villain from now on, so the originality of a nerdy villain with a video blog won't be so original anymore. While I hate that they ended it that abruptly, I hope they don't do an actual sequel (other stuff would be okay).

Hopes and dreams are shattering apart and crashing to the ground.

Yeah they definitely should NOT have a sequel. This is absolutely perfect.

And that's the point to it. It is supposed to be a miniseries and it does provide enough closure at the end to intrigue and inspire.

As much as I'd love more Dr. Horrible, I have to agree – his story has run its course, and a sequel would just result in a maudlin series to indulge fans. I think the series has a set message, however indistinct it might be, and anything else tacked on would be pushing the boundary.

I really hope they start another, unrelated series, though. Holy crap, those songs were catchy.

This is the best response on the forum!

I must agree fully:

Joss Whedon, curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal!!!

I couldn't believe it, then I remembered that we were dealing with Joss and couldn't believe that I hadn't seen this coming.

I want a sequel to see more of the ELE. I want more than a list of names and that tantalizing glimpse at the end. Who doesn't want to know the story with Fake Thomas Jefferson.

Oh yes. The thoroughbred of sin must also have some nice backstory.

So, how about…. more 45 min mini-blog-series things showing how the rest of the ELE got there… culminating in a massive 2hr film with all of them involved?

I suddenly really like the sound of that! C'mon Whedon family and Maurissa – give us some more cool stuff!

:D

Really enjoyed it…. once I'd stopped crying!

I´m betting that if there ever is a sequel, the plot will be focused around Billy trying to bring Penny back using any evil science resources at his disposal.

After all, that kind of thing IS what most evil scientists ultimatly strive for anyway (next to world domination) so it wouldnt be to much of a stretch. Sealed

The last 5 seconds reminded me the good doctor is a blogger. See where I'm going? I took it as he had been blogging about what he was *going* to do, he imagined that tragic result along with what would happen to him as a person. So, what we hear at the very end is his kind of depressing realization that his murder plan was not going to be worth it.
Of course could be totally off course. But, that's the first thing that popped into my mind.

I don't know, it seems like if he was just a wanna-be villain blogging, his dream heist wouldn't end in his crush dying, in part due to his own escapades. He's already fantasized about how he'd like things to be in 'Freeze Ray' and 'Brand New Day' – him a supervillain ruling the world, Penny at his side. I don't think he could make up that look at the end, either.
