I'm starting to do some unofficial sheet music transcriptions of Dr. Horrible songs. So far, Perfect Story (So They Say) and the Bad Horse song are up.

Comments, suggestions, requests encouraged!
Moses
EDIT: I also made a Bad Horse ringtone, but my synth skills are not up to par, I'm sure someone with more synth savvy than me can take my score and make a much better one.
EDIT 2pm PST: Links fixed. Getting Brand New Day and Perfect Story titles mixed up…

Thanks for the ring tone. I'm using it right now. "Perfect Story" is in my favorite 2 tracks of the show. Now I'll just have to learn it.

Penny's Song is now up. Also, I made an orchestra version of the Bad Horse ringtone that's surprisingly much more effective than the pure synthesizer one. I just put it on my own phone. I wonder what people at work will think…

I've been dying to find some Dr Horrible sheet music, in order to do some Mario Paint Compositions of a few specific pieces from the soundtrack.
The two I'd love to see are On The Rise, and especially The Finale. I'm definitely keeping an eye on the page for any updates, so please keep us posted! =D

I've gotten a bunch of requests for On The Rise. It'll take me a little longer because of the denser orchestration. I have both the vocal lines done, and I have the score written out for Billy's verse so far.
I need some help with identifying the stuff in the drumset in Perfect Story… I'm trained on orchestral percussion–wish I could play set. Someone help?

Thanks a ton for these, paradoxmo. I was gonna do up full scores for the songs in Finale and simply haven't had the time to work on it at all.

Love the ringtones! I'm setting the 90's version for my wife.

Your wife calls you to tell you to assassinate people? Man, it's like Lady MacBeth all over again. Or Angela and Dwight. Whichever.

Hey ArsNovaChris,
If you get the chance I'd love to talk on IM, you might be able to hear some stuff I miss, esp. drum tracks… stuff that isn't in an orchestra (-: The classical training is great, but I'm having to learn all this rock-opera stuff as I go…

Heh, yeah, I'm pretty much coming at it from the opposite way… played in rock bands for 13 years and just last year started college for classical training. I've been really busy lately, but I'll see what I can do to help. If you have yahoo messenger, my name on there is johnsmusicbox, get a hold of me on there.

Haaaa, I wish I'd seen this before I decided to cover Penny's song at 12am a few days ago. >_>
Just one thing, though. Is the second chord really just a plain F? It never sounded right to me. I was using a Am/F, I believe.

I went back and listened to it again when I read Prissi's question above, and the answer is: yes, it is an F chord with no extra notes. If you listen very carefully to the first piano chord (in bar 3) and concentrate on the E, it clearly moves to F in the next chord. (It's E F, G G.) If it were Am/F, otherwise known purely notewise as Fmaj7, the E would have stayed on the E and it would sound like E E, G G. A possible reason just an F doesn't sound right is because that F bass note is in the low register of the instrument, and in the low register two octaves is a pretty big frequency difference because of the way pianos are tuned with stretched octaves, so a chord like that doesn't sound "pure".
I'm fairly sure Penny's Song is basically mistake-free. On the other hand, I'm not so sure about Perfect Story and I'm planning to go back and revisit that one, and I'll update that as soon as I get to it.
edited 8/8 for clarification

The full score to On The Rise is now up at http://moses.leifam.com/drhorrible.html . I have not done the piano reduction yet, so this is 18 pages of individual vocal and instrumental lines. I should be able to get the piano reduction up by early next week.
The computer rendition of this song turned out really well, so I've also posted that for your sing-along/karaoke pleasure.
Thanks again, of course, to the composers and everyone who worked on these songs– and of course this is just a stopgap until you guys release official sheet music. (Do you folks need help with that? I'm a copyist, and I'm doing it now for fun anyway, so I'd certainly work for free.)

I love these! Amazing!
Is there any chance that you will do a piano/vocal/guitar one of "Brand New Day" soon? I'm looking forward badly to "On the Rise" and "Freeze Ray". Keep up the good work!

On The Rise piano/guitar/vocal reduction is up. Not much to say about it except that it's… a bitch to sightread. Then again, I'm a terrible pianist so maybe I'm not the best judge.

Thank you so much for doing these. They are just fantastic. It took me forever to do the Firefly/Serenity ones and they're not even close to being ready to show the world! Congrats on a job well done.

Two requests for Brand New Day, so I think I'm going to have to put that on the list after Perfect Story and Freeze Ray. I'm glad you enjoyed playing through them!

A string player! (I assume.) You don't happen to live in LA by any chance? I'm looking for people to read string quartet arrangements of Dr. Horrible.
Glad you like them!

*checks bank account for plane funds to LA….oh snap….continues to watch Dr. Horrible instead of hopping a plane*
