Jewel Staite's Perspective
I saw Jewel give a Q&A presentation to fans at Supanova in Brisbane today 
She was great! Had plenty to say about Nathan, hehe!
She said he's a very funny guy, and goes out of his way to make people laugh.
But she said the time she laughed the hardest wasn't really planned…
In one of the earliest scenes they filmed of Firefly (sorry, spoiler alert), Kaylee gets shot and Mal bends down to help her. It was early in the piece, and the actors were still getting to know each other.
So shooting the scene goes according to plan, until Nathan crouches down and before he can say his line, he lets one rip. By her account he pretty well blew the seat of his pants out.
She almost had tears in her eyes she was laughing so hard as she explained it. She went on to say that it really broke the ice between them

Heh, Bud that's a really funny story! Everything I've seen of Mr Fillion's work so far has been fantastic so, as the song goes, “Waiting is the hardest part…”!

no no noooooo…… he actually literally split his pants - just by bending over - which he did several times and possibly even where the line “tightpants” acutally came from LOL
I think Nathan mentioned this in a commentary - or maybe it was at a con - either way I've heard the story before - and the pants splitting was actually not “bodily function” related  Still hilariou

lol - that's so funny - i completely misunderstood her use of the term 'rip', she said that he ripped the seat out of his pants, and that was hot on the heels of another anecdote of a nervous fan that let one rip when he came up for an autograph - she said she didn't react but her hubby had to walk away he was laughing so hard. So you could probably understand how I misinterpreted her meaning. How about that - due apologies to Captain Tightpants over that one!

i dont think ive seen a show with Nathan Fillion that's been bad. he has the touch of gold. who knows maybe we'd get a Cap. Hammer cartoon with Nathan doin the voice? possibility very slim i know.
