First off, hi, first time posting on here.  I had to register after I discovered this because I need someone other than my girlfriend and best friend confirming my theory.

Despite what Maurissa and others said in interviews, Penny's not dead.  She says so herself in "Everything You Ever."

Crank up the sound during the part that sounds like "Brand New Day."

Anyone else hear Felicia singing "I'm not dead?"

Are you referring to the music playing during the party scene?  I've always just heard someone singing "horrible" over and over.

Did anybody get the fact that in the first homeless shelter, in the background, Dr.Horrible replace the soupe guy?

I went back and listened… and YES. o_o It's in there. At first, I just heard this sort of… high-pitched off-bit in the music/Horribles. Yep. There are hidden words there. Freaky… You, are a hidden-message genius! =D

OMG I finally hear it! I really had to crank it up on my Ipod, but I heard it faintly coming out of one of the earbuds. Wow, that is weird!

What time does Felicia say she's not dead (ex. 1:02)?

I can't say for sure it's Felicia (even though that would make sense)… but it's said more than once.

1:54, 1:58, etc.

It's so quiet it sounds like part of the music.

I agree that this is a good catch: there's definitely something there, a female vocal track layered under and along with the distorted "Horrible, Horrible, Horrible, Horrible" bridge (at 38:48 on my counter).  I'm not convinced it's "I'm alive" though.  I ran the section through some pretty good EQ to try to pull it out a litlle.  Sounds more like "Double Death" to me, though that phrase makes little or no sense, or less.  Maybe others can try.  I had a couple friends listen without giving them any clues, and they had no idea what the words are.

Sounds to me like the actual words are intentionally hard to discern.  My guess is that the intent here is to either keep us busy with hard to decipher fake secret messages, or maybe more likely, it was just a recording production technique to give some "air" (breathy sound) to that "Horrible" line.

Sorry to Scully you…  "Commentary! The Musical" refers to her death several times, and to a sequel.  So I guess we'll eventually find out for sure!  Yea!

With the volume at a normal level I hear a female vocal singing "horrible", but when the volume is much louder I hear "I'm not dead" or possibly "Am I dead?" Spooky…

Yeah, this is like the ol' "Paul McCartney is dead" lyrics theory on the Beatles recording of "I am the Walrus". What John Lennon really says is "cranberry sauce", while thousands of fans at the time swore they heard "I buried Paul."

Hilarious!
