applies not only applies to Captain Hammer, but to Dr. Horrible as well.
Surface = Billy, socially awkward, introvert, geek
Below = Dr. Horrible
Much deeper layer like the top = inner regret at the end

I think of the 3rd layer as kind of a mixture of the top 2 layers, like the crust and filling smashed together. Yes, Dr. Horrible realizes he's killed his dream girl. But, as he says in Everything You Ever, Penny's death is beneficial to him and he's obtained "everything he ever [wanted]" and he "won't feel a thing". The filling in him kind of becomes the top layer, if you think about it.

Not really. The last thing you see is not Dr. Horrible, but Billy. And he is in pain.
The true tope and bottom.
Because thats whats holding the inside together, but no one thinks about it, just the filling.
