Don't get me wrong, it's great that everybody is so creative… but why do people always look for big hidden clues?
I mean, it's just what it is. Joss really didn't write something which you will only find out after watching 130 times… there may be little things which you will notice after watching a few times but no big hidden storylines.
Take Buffy as example, there were million rumours on the internet about hidden clues, the hidden meaning behind the clothes they wear, lines characters said and things Joss 'must have meant'… and really, non of them were true. Joss must be laughin his ass of reading all the things people make up.
So… Penny is dead. Billy didn't imagen the whole thing and Penny didn't know about Billy being Dr Horrible. That's how it is, deal with it.

Ah, but that's where you're wrong. There's a lot of deeper meaning behind this than you think. I find it HIGHLY unlikely that Joss just picked a random email name to introduce Penny and it just happened to be "Deadnotsleeping". I also find it highly unlikely that the first to lines of "Everything you Ever" don't have a second layer. There is just no possible way that he wasn't thinking about it when Dr. Horrible puts on the red coat in the end. I find it INSANELY hard to believe that the coat was there because it was cool. There is obviously a deeper meaning there that symbolised Horrible taking over Billy, especially when he puts the goggles on for the first time.
I also want to know when you talked to Joss. Did you guys go out for lunch sometime? Because unless you did there is no way you could possibly know that "Billy didn't imagine the whole thing", and you could not know that there is no deeper meaning to the plot. Open your eyes. Your post is simply not true in every way.

Of course the story has a deeper meaning. That's not what I mean.
Dr Horrible taking over Billy is not a hidden clue, everybody with half a brain will understand this. Looking for hidden clues with the coat would be more like saying he put on the red coat cause he will be diving in the red sea to find a cure for Penny next week.
Deadnotsleeping… I think I actually know people who had that nickname before this, it's not that original… it's just a nickname. Could just as easy have been Sleepingbeautyonlynotabeauty or isleepinaflyingroomwhichinfactisnotflyingandisjustaroom.
And if Billy imaged the whole thing, there would be no deeper meaning at all, cause it would all be fake. If Joss was a fan of that he would have ended Buffy with Normal Again. Everybody would feel cheated cause we all want this world to be real.
And again, I think it's great that people come up will all kind of weird stuff, especially for Joss. I'm a bit of a screenwriter myself and I would love to see people come up with all kinds of things, from seeing my work, which would never even cross my mind.

I think you're dead wrong about Penny not knowing Billy was Horrible. During Slipping watch after he says "Billy-Buddy". The camera cuts to Penny for just a moment and she mouths "Billy Buddy". IT's pretty obvious she knew at that point.
Besides that once a work of fiction is released it can be interpreted in any way the fans want. That's why "A Turn fo he Screw" is so often read at high schools. The students assume it's a ghost story most of the time, not the nannies imagination.

I never heard of that story, so I can't say anything about that.
Of course Penny finds out at the end… that's also very obvisous. That's hardly a hidden clue or a deeper meaning cause you can just see that. I meant that she didn't know from the start like some people are saying..

When people don't think enough, it becomes a problem. Otherwise, let them have their fun. A good brain workout never hurt anyone.
If I were the cast/crew, I'd be impressed to have inspired such thought and not "laughing my ass off". I'd get a chuckle from some of the guesses, but I'd never sit back like I'm someone better than my fans who might scurry around trying to enjoy ever little corner of set. I'd be right there with them thinking, "Ooh! Did I actually do that?"
Then again: Mr. Whedon (the Joss one) has been reported to say that he'd rather "give people what they need" over what they want. That, alone, says there's likely more to it than what's on the surface… probably something to learn from it all.
