I think the next obvious story arc would involve Dr. Horrible rising to the top of the ELE, perhaps by knocking off Bad Horse himself, maybe involving the Purple Pimp somehow?   I picture a musical, absurd Sopranos kind of show.

That's interesting. Given that Dr. H, took credit for killing, but didn't actually kill, a hero's girlfriend, he'd most likely have a different idea in mind on how the ELE should do things.

"Killing's not elegant or creative. It's not my style." -Dr. H.

"So, go kill someone. Signed, Bad Horse."

Yeah. I see a conflict in personalities.

The gamut determines the acceptible range of conditions. It's Genius' Awesome Sauce in an 8oz. glass bottle with a cork stopper.

Actually, he didn't take credit; at Penny's death scene, when DH is bent over and they are still talking, after she passes, you see the flashbulbs (blue lights) go off and then hear this dialogue: REPORTERS: Dr.Horrible, why did you kill her? Dr.Horrible, please… Why did you kill her?

And then you go to the newspaper headline montage, where he is also credited by the newspapers as the killer. He certainly accepts credit; I don't think he took or considers himself Penny's killer.

Dr. Horrible immediately understands the implications of events.  Penny is dead and he notes:

Here lies everything.

The world I wanted at my feet.

My victory's complete,

so hail to the king.

It has dual meanings, of course.  But DH knows even before the reporters begin to ask questions that he will be credited with Penny's death.  He doesn't have to claim credit.  It's thrusted on to him.  He knows how the world works.  Penny's rescue is credited to Captain Hammer when, arguabley, the situation was caused by CH and ultimately difused by DH.  The homeless shelter is credited to CH when it was largely the work of Penny that brought it about.

And so Dr. Horrible accepts the credit for killing Penny – and even trades off of it.  He goes on to commit other crimes.   At the following bank heist, all he has to do is brandish a possible weapon about and look menacing.  His reputation does all the work.  No further action is needed.

But would Dr. Horrible be able to do violence?  He dons the personea:

Now the nightmare's real.

Now Dr. Horrible is here!

To make you quake with fear!

To make the whole world kneel.

But Dr. Horrible lacks… experience.  He's never killed.  His work has never had the intent to kill (stun rays, freeze rays).   The only time he's intended to kil, he found himself hesitating despite his earlier conviction before the attemptl went wrong.  Will greif and anger be able to drive him beyond a point he hadn't managed to cross before?

I suspect Billy is in trouble.  Dr. Horrible lied on his resume.  He has the talent to be in the E.L.E.  But he doesn't have the same drive; he's not one of them.  How long will it be before Bad Horse and company catch on?

Trivia note: the Purple Pimp is played by the guy who actually owns the crazy apartment used as the location of DH's lair.  As a sort of thanks, the owner was included in the final shot.

To get back a little to the OP post, while an ELE civil war may not be the way to go – at least not just yet – we definitely need some back ground on all the current (and maybe ever former or original ELE members). That’s the kind of thing that could easily be handled via on-line or print comics books (e.g. "be like me") with, perhaps, some flashbacks in a future episode.

Once we’ve got some background and bios on the group, then JW and co can do a full civil war musical extravaganza. I do agree that having Doc H try (or succeed) in controlling the league in the future seems to be the way to go. He, himself, doesn’t actually have to kill any league members to take control….

Hey– I just posted to the "act 4″ forum before I saw this thread.  Definately, Bad Horse needs to go down in the next episode.  It will be somebody he trusts, but not Dr. Horrible.  The League will split apart and start taking each other out….

I'd like this done via comic book; unless JW and company can think of a really clever and visually intriguing way to handle at least one song performed by Bad Horse….

Bad Horse controls the ELE with an Iron Hoof. This could easily generate resentment among the other Members. The possibility of an ELE Civil War is there, but we do need more background on those characters and it needs to be framed in a way that presents a conflict with Billy/Dr. Horrible. He'd have to be conflicted about doing this for whatever reason. There would have to be repercussions for his actions. It would have to shake the world (or Billy's emotional state) to the core. A complete takeover of the ELE and the near-destruction of the Grand Confederation of Goodness (or whatever the Superhero group should be called) would be in line with this. Although, a background story on the GCG would be needed or at least an introduction to the characters and perhaps the induction of Captain Hammer into their ranks. Maybe even a promotion to Colonel.

I agree with everyone else there needs to be a backround story before the war.

I am The Green Dragon I leave no trail behind. I go about my evil deeds without stressing my mind. No one has ever caught up to me as they say. Then again people fear me more and more each day.
