Sorry, but no comics. Dr Horrible's magic comes from the chemistry between actors, the music (duh!) and the "whoa" moments that you can only get with live fleshy actors. (Was anyone else impressed with not only the wicked look in NPH's eyes during "Slipping" but the badass costume upgrade sequence? Sorry guys, comics are sweet but they can't match that.)
Honestly? I think a half-hour sitcomish format TV series would be great with this. I know Joss & Company would be skittish of this (he did work for Roseanne after all. Eww *shivers*) Allow me to make some points:
1) The Webisodes are already nearly the length of a half hour network show. It would take only a little more effort to make them the right format (If anyone can do it, it would them thar Whedon boys and their gang)
2) As long as its not on Fox, the show would have a chance. *flips Spaceball salute to Fox*
3) The plot of the 3 webisodes could easily be the first season as Dr Horrible is aspiring to be in the ELE. (Hmm, parallels to aspiring actors and the showbusiness industry much?) Further seasons could be central around the good Doctor's early jobs and conflicts with ELE (like the Office with supervillians, better actors, and music!), dealing with other heroes or Capt Hammer and his therapist (who in my mind would be played by Seth Green. "I had the group LIQUIDATED, you little shit! They were insolent!")
4) Joss, I love the comics and the web-coms, but Im burning holes in my boxsets. I have a strange relationship with your particular brand of emotional sadism. In closing, get back to the shiny moving pictures! You're too bloody good at it!
